IT Consulting


IT ConsultingIT Consulting or Information Technology Consulting is a very broad term (sometimes referred to as Technology Services, Computer Consultancy, or IT Advisory Services) that focuses on informing and advising businesses and in some cases individuals on how best information technology can be utilized to enhance existing business models or provide prospective business ambitions or personal objectives with advantages and/or increased efficiencies. IT Consultants can not only provide advice but will often provide assessment, estimation, management, deployment, and administerial services.

The standard business model for IT consulting typically consists of five basic principles:

  1. Fleshing out a clear and full understanding of the expectations of the client, the client organization and any other stakeholders or principle parties.
  2. The agreement upon a very clear set of defined responsibilities and roles both for the Consultancy and the clients and any other stakeholders or principles.
  3. Creation of a clear and visionary expression of how the relationship between the Consultancy and the client looks in the end.
  4. The development of a focused and concise model based on the needs and desires of the client including the laying out of a logical step by step methodology to reach the end goal.
  5. Implementation of a results based methodology: The end solution should address all aspects of the project cycle, user concerns, training, implementation, and maintenance.
